We finished travelling full time around Australia earlier than expected, but we still had the best time and it was so good to be able to see parts of Australia that we didn’t think we would ever be able to visit.

The only regret we have about the trip is the camper that we bought, as all the problems we had resulted in us changing our trip, and ultimately ending it early. Our advice for anything looking to travel Australia is to buy a good quality, Australian made camper (if your budget allows) and to have it for some time before travelling so you can iron out any kinks before heading off. Read more about our camper trailer issues here.

Regardless of the issues we had, this was still one of the best things we have done with our lives and we are so glad that we did it. If you are thinking about taking some time off to travel Australia, we say do it! Australia is such an amazing and diverse place and you really need some time to be able to travel and appreciate it. The trip has also improved our mental health and has made us closer than ever as a couple.

Upon reflection, we haven’t really learnt anything new since we wrote our halfway on our trip around Australia post. In fact, we have had to do more problem solving and plan changing as the trip went on!

So, what’s next for us?

Now that we are home, we are going to settle back in Launceston, go back to work and get us another house that will allow us to travel in the future. Even with all the places we visited, there was really no place like home. We need to do some things to the Patrol to make it even better and also think about what our next camping set up will be.

Our passion for travel is still alive though and we will be travelling still as much as we can. We would love to be able to do some longer trips in the future but not sure if we would do a 12 month trip again. We are definitely heading back to WA though and are looking forward to an exclusive WA trip in the future.
